DOUBLE GLAZING
KEEPING IT COMFORTABLE
When it’s boiling in summer and freezing in winter with few moments in between, how do we deal with windows being holes in the side of our nicely insulated walls? The solution is double glazing!
Double glazing traps a layer of air between two, sometimes three, panels of glass, limiting the amount of temperature transfer from one side of the window to the other, making it easier to keep your room temperature regulated, and save on the energy (and effort!) it takes to keep things just as you like it.
At David Glass, our team can tailor make your double glazed windows with the kinds of glass you need on the inside, outside, and even in the middle of your double glaze to help reduce your energy costs, noise and colour fading, whilst increasing your safety and ambient comfort.

GLASS TYPES
INSULATED GLASS
Double Glaze, Double Quality
With the well known ‘double glaze’ of insulated glass, there’s a lot more going on under the surface than what meets the eye. With two layers of glass sealing a third layer of air in the middle, insulated glass creates a thermo-neutral layer that reduces temperature transfer from one side to the other. With gaps between 6mm and 20mm, the trapped air reduces temperature fluctuation like nothing else, and can be made with multiple air gaps to increase efficiency.
Still want the right look? Double glazing can mean multiple options in picking which panes work for you, and the team at David Glass can guide you through your selection.
SAFETY GLASS
Protecting You and Yours
The safety of you and your family, your co-workers and your clients is important to us. At David Glass, we always comply with the Australian Standard AS-1288 to ensure the compliant installation of both toughened and laminated safety glass. We can help you choose which of these two A-grade safety glass types best meet your needs.
Toughened Safety Glass is made by heating, stressing, and cooling the glass in the furnace until it’s dense, strong, and durable, standing 4-7 times stronger then ordinary Float Glass. If struck with enough force, this type of glass will shatter into dense, cube-like pieces that have fewer sharp edges to reduce the chance of injury, but as this quickly falls from its frame afterwards, this can cause an urgent replacement issue.
COATED GLASS
Performance Perfection
Energy saving is more then just a great way to save on bills, or a way to be environmentally aware. Coatings on glass that control the radiation from the sun can keep things cool when it starts heating up, keep your air- cons or heaters from over-working, and protect what’s on the inside of the glass from getting heat damaged or faded in the sun.
With options for tinting or reflective control, e-coatings and protective layers, there’s no one-size fits all when it comes to coatings, and David Glass has an experienced team that can advise you on what best suits your needs.
PATTERNED GLASS
Private, Pretty And Personal
Privacy doesn’t have to mean a drawn curtain blocking all your light. With options for fogged, patterned, textured and etched glass, you can create a personalised touch that keeps the light coming in, and the prying eyes out. Alternatively, etched designs make for beautifully modern bathrooms with patterned shower screens or shelving, and fogged glass could add a misty grace to your balcony’s balustrade.
The team at David Glass has perfected the art of patterned glass in such a way that allows new applications of the medium, creating textured and patterned glass that can be double insulated, toughened or laminated to suit your needs.
TINTED GLASS
Solar Shielding
Don’t be that person who keeps their sunnies on inside. Tinted glass can work exactly the same way as your favourite pair without making a classic faux-pas! By reducing the amount of solar radiation that enters the building, you can protect your eyes, and your furniture with tinted glass. Tinting windows or skylights with colours like green, bronze, or grey can keep your space cool, in more ways then one.
